The following positions are available:

Death Notice/Legal Notice Telephone Sales Rep. (19 hours)

RESPONSIBILITIES: Sell, service and schedule death notice and legal notice advertising including liners and display, via incoming and outgoing telephone calls. Promote special products, such as photo death notices, upsell frequency and linage to increase ad prominence and visibility through use of personal sales skills, along with knowledge of Detroit Newspapers rates, products, features and benefits. Assist advertisers in composing copy for death notices and legal notices. Will build positive relationships with funeral directors and direct advertisers by using problem solving negotiation techniques to assure customer satisfaction, while maintaining profitability standards.

REQUIREMENTS: One year of college and six months related experience and/or equivalent. Previous sales experience is required. Requires ability to type 55 wpm and knowledge of MS Word. Must be highly motivated and possess outstanding customer service, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Attention to detail is crucial. Schedule will be Wednesday 9:30am-6pm, Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm. Candidate must be flexible regarding work schedule and hours.

New Business Retail Account Executive

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Account Executive is responsible for all sales and related activities in acquisition of new business (as defined as no activity in the preceding six months). The primary responsibility is to sell new advertisers and help grow revenue in all existing and new products and exceed goals for new business development through cold calling and persistent follow-up. Able to sell value for print and online, custom publications with the purpose of generating new revenues from account leads as well as maintaining current account participation through consistent and increased revenue generation. Develop and deliver customized sales presentation. Meet sales expectations and standards including goal, new business and active account achievement.

REQUIREMENTS: An Associate’s degree and two years of sales experience and/or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree and specific industry knowledge of Detroit market preferred. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong analytical skills, product and market knowledge, and demonstrate professional interpersonal skills with internal and external customers. Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong organizational skills to coordinate a large volume of details surrounding advertisers and DMP business. Ability to use a personal computer and the Internet are required. Use of personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, state mandated auto insurance and good driving record are required.
